Dr. AKO-EGBE Louis

Dr. Ako-Egbe Louis is a General Practitioner with an MD degree obtained from the University of Buea. He obtained a Master of Science in Public Health – Health Systems Management and Policy from the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, Belgium. Louis is a Fellow and an Emerging Leader of tghe International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).

He has over six years of experience in clinical medicine, hospital management and health district management. since five years under the Ministry of Public Health and has served as a health facility/system manager in many rural communities in Cameroon. Louis has served as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ekona Sub divisional hospital, the Messsondo Sub divisional hospital and now the District Medical Officer in the South West Region.

Louis has a keen interest in community healthcare especially in mitigating the barriers to quality health care faced by vulnerable populations and disadvantaged communities. He beliefs that affordable, quality (patient-centred, continuous, effective and integrated) and compassionate home-based care is a more practical approach to improve health care delivery in most of the rural communities in Cameroon. He also agrees with the thinking that Universal Health Coverage (UHC) can only be achieved via an effective mix of public and private providers.
