Building the capacity of some integrated health centres in providing reproductive health services

Purpose: The purpose of this activity was to reinforce the technical capacity of trained nurses, serving in remote areas as chiefs of centres, to carry out safe family planning services, prenatal/delivery and postnatal services to women of childbearing age in poorly accessible communities.

Activities: Four health centres in the South West Region namely; Muabi, Tente-Asome, Nkikoh and Nkack with chief of centres having been trained on Family planning techniques, were supported with equipment and family planning commodities by the FALCOH Foundation. The equipment were four delivery kits comprising of forceps, specula, needle holders, manual aspirators and galy pots. The FP commodities included male and female condoms, Combined Oral Contraceptives, Depo provera, Implants and Intra-uterine devices. Also Oxytocine injectable ampoule was distributed to the beneficiary health facilities.






Sustainability: The commodities are supposed to be distributed or administered to clients at very affordable cost (almost free of charge) just to ensure repurchase of some more commodities. Normal deliveries are will be carried out at the normal rates set by the Ministry of Public Health which is 6000cfa per delivery to increase access to the local population
